Client
PLTU PJB Indramayu 3 x 330 MW.
Challenge
Fly ash collected from the economizer hopper needed to be transported reliably through a pneumatic conveying line without settling or blockage.
Approach
The pneumatic conveying system piping was analysed with CFD across several operating cases to determine the minimum conveying air velocity, pipe diameter, pressure drop and required pump capacity.
Result
The simulations showed the ash deposition pattern along the horizontal runs for each velocity case and identified the threshold at which the line stays self-cleaning.
Client outcome
The client received the conveying parameters needed to specify the piping and the pump for stable fly ash transport.
