Client
PLTU PJB Indramayu 3 x 330 MW.
Challenge
Fly ash leaving the boiler had to be captured effectively by the economizer hopper, and the capture efficiency of the existing design was unproven.
Approach
Gas and particle flow inside the economizer flue gas ducting was simulated with and without hopper geometry, and several design options were tested using CFD.
Result
Particle tracks showed where fly ash settles and where it is carried through the ducting, quantifying the capture efficiency of each hopper option.
Client outcome
CCIT provided a recommendation on the optimum economizer hopper design, backed by comparative simulation results.
